Unmontable boot volume - no clue what to do
Have windows XP pro. read some other threads on this but still no clue how to proceed. only one file backed up. noy sure if I have recovery cd - will have to scour boxes for it. problem complicated in that internet access not working now at home (posting from my treo). please advise how to priceed and explain as you would to a child!

Find out the brand of your hard drive. Go to there website. Go to
support. If you have a floppy drive on sick computer, download there diagnostic utility, if no floppy look for boot cd utility, much easier with boot floppy imho. Before trying to run the utility you must enter bios and adjust boot order. If you want to boot to a: first you must set that in bios, and so on for the cd,,,,,Harddrive is either dead, or you have a boot .ini problem, boot sector,,etc
