[SOLVED] Can SATA Drives be lsaves to IDE

I have just bought a new 500GB SATAII drive. I currently have an 80GB IDE drive as the master and a 160GB IDE drive as the slave. When i fitted my SATA drive i think it tried to boot of the SATA drive and wouldnt load windows xp. Ive looked at the BIOS settings but im not a whizz with this. Just wondering if there's any way for the SATA HD to be a slave to my IDE HD....

much appreciated

Re: Can SATA Drives be lsaves to IDE

You don't need to worry about master and slave with the Sata drive. Master/slave setting are more to do with IDE drives.

All you have to do if you want to use the IDE drive as the Master drive with your OS on there is go to the Bios and enter the area called Boot area. Then, go down to the Hard Drive Priority area and set the drive you want to boot from as First in that list. In this case, that would be the IDE drive. NOw, the Sata should just be another drive on your system you can use.

I am not sure if that is what you are wanting or asking, so if that doesn't answer your question, please post back and we will take another look at the issue.
