HD disappeared after connecting soundcard
OK, I apologise in advance if this is a common problem - I've searched the threads for something similar and have tried the relevant advice I could find but nothing has worked so far.
I had my motherboard replaced by a computer repair shop yesterday, and when I started up the computer I noticed my soundcard wasn't working. The repair people had wrongly connected the sound card connector to the floppy drive and left the soundcard connector unconnected. I swapped the connectors round, and turned on my machine. Now I am getting the error message "disk boot failure, please insert system disk and press enter". I've looked at the BIOS and it can't detect my IDE HD. I have checked that all the connectors are firmly in place and they all seem to be. I'd be really grateful if anyone could suggest anything I could try - I really don't want to have to go back to the repair people again, as it was their carelessness that started all this in the first place! Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help, Darren Last edited by Darren G Hill; 03-21-2008 at 04:49 AM. |
