Older HD--Still good?

I've got an older WD 80gb 7200 HD. A while back the PC it was in stopped booting and since it was a few years old anyhow, I just replaced the PC. I've still got the HD sitting around, and am considering building a new PC. My question is this, would I be able to reformat and use this HD again, or should I just throw it out and not bother risking it crashing again?

Go with a new hard drive for your new PC. Buy a cheap enclosure for your old one.

depends upon why the other PC stopped booting, whether it was mobo probs or hard drive.
Why don't you download the hard drive diagnostics from Western digital and check it out. If the diagnostics give it a clean bill of health, do a nuke & boot or killdisk and use it until you need to get a larger disk or can afford a new drive .. it might seem small by todays standards but it's a good size to use for a boot disk or even as a back up for your new system
