Mistake HELP WD HD not working!!!!!!!!

Hello There;

I try reading all the post here before I wrote this. My HD is not working. It is a WD 500GB HD.

All of a sudden it stop working. At one point my computer will recognize it in my computer but when I try to open it; it will say it needs to be formated.

Now my computer won't even recognize it in my computer or Device manager. And it makes a clicking noise. I tried the fridge thing. Left it there for a few hours but that did not work.

I have alot of data on there I would like to retrieve. Is there anyone that can help me????????????????

Re: HELP WD HD not working!!!!!!!!

The fridge trick is an outdated trick that no longer applies / it was a neat approach to fluid filled bearings on the head that began failure. There are no more fluid filled bearings in active hard drive production.

about the only thing I can tell you is to give a vendor by the name Darius on ebay at shot at the drive >>>> he will not charge very much if he is not successful

http://cgi.ebay.com/PCB-for-Western-...QQcmdZViewItem

this is about the only fella that i know of that has any REAL chance of fixing your drive for under $250.00 >>>> if he is unsuccessful he charges about $20.00 labor and $20.00 return shipping

other than that/ fill out an RMA warranty form at western digital website and get a replacement drive >>>> but they will do nothing for your data.

dont hesitate to ask more questions
