Hard drive dead?
I am building a new PC and have got it up and running with an IDE harddrive. I'm trying to add a SATA drive.
I have hooked it up right and it does spin when I power up the PC. I set up the BIOS (to my knowledge) correctly. When the PC starts up it shows the IDE drive as the Channel 0 master (I have loaded windows on it and it works fine). But when it loads the Channel 2 Master it just shows as blank. Like it sees the harddrive but it doesn't want to do anything. I did set up the jumpers on the HDD for 1.5 phy. As that is what my motherboard supports. My PC Specs: Biostar K8M800 Micro Socket AM2 Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Socket AM2 CPU WD Caviar 750GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G 2x 1024MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz |

Re: Hard drive dead?
see if you can see it in disk management,if so format it and windows will then see it
if it's not in disk management it probably requires a driver to be loaded with f6

Re: Hard drive dead?
the bios will not see it on a ide channel if it is a sata drive,it will be listed under sata
the bios setup varies between m/b manufacturers and models you need to check your manual for an accurate discription of the setup proceedure
