Our home PC crashed (w:\system32\config\system files was corrupt), so I recover from the REPAIR directory. I have the PC back up and running. HOWEVER my files under MY DOCUMENTS are not there!!! I can only assume this is because I restored the files (from REPAIR folder), SYSTEM, SOFTWARE, SAM, SECURITY and DEFAULT.
I have reviewed the security setting and Administrator has full rights to all folders. How do I get my files back ?? short of tool? I looked into tools too...but they all typicaly find DELETED files. My files were not deleted. They are just not there!! Any help is appreciated. Ntote: I have NTFS file system and my resote was manual (using copy statements in DOS) rc |

Re: finding old files after a system crash and restore
Hi, welcome to TSF.
![]() The chances of getting your files back are very slim. Try: Recuva Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier GetDataBack You should stop using the drive you want to recover files from. Install the recovery software in another computer and connect the drive with lost files to that computer. Never write files to the same drive you are retrieving them from. |
