Having trouble getting 2.5" drive to work on my desktop
I am trying to get everything off of my busted laptop's hard drive (Hitachi Travelstar DK23EA-60gb) by plugging it into my desktop with a 2.5" to 3.5" IDE converter, but the computer won't recognize it.
A couple things are weird, though, that are worth mentioning. First, the converter I have has one more pin than it should on the side that corresponds to the 3.5" cable, and I have to bend it back to get it to fit (in the middle of one of the rows of holes there is one is filled in). Second, when I turned the computer on with the 2.5" drive plugged in, it sometimes just stalls at the motherboard screen, not even allowing me to get to the settings page, and although I didn't leave it for too long like that, I don't think it was going anywhere. Other times it starts up normally and the drive doesn't show up anywhere. Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks, JDS Last edited by thosejaunes; 03-16-2008 at 06:27 PM. |
