External Hardrive has gone wierd

Hi there

My 160GB freecom hard drive fell on the floor before (about a foot drop) and then it seemed to be working ok until I turned it off for a bit and then whenever |I plugged in the usb the power would go out on it. I've already had this problem with a 400GB one so I just placed it into my computer and tried to start it up that way.

The problem is that it is no longer read as a 160GB drive but a 33GB drive when I placed it in and read it through the bios. Just wondering if anyone knows how I of anyway to get the lost data back as it contained all my ripped cd's (which would take me forever to re-do) and a few games on it as well.

For additional info, i think the 33GB size is acctually how much I had left free on the drive before it went nuts on me. Also I have tried a copy of partition table doctor on it to scan it for any lost partitions, etc but it came up with nothing.

Sorry about this being a bit long winded and thanks for any help you can give.

You need sp2, if your running xp. There is a size limitation with sp1.
I would take out the drive, update to sp2 then reinstall the hdd.

Sorry should of put that down in my OS but I already have SP2 with XP as well so that can't be the problem. Have had the 400GB drive running well on my computer as well but taken it out whilst i try to get this one working.
