recovering windows xp data
Hello Help
Only knowing the very basic about computers I turned on mine and found that the computer wouldn't boot. Restarting the computer I found that on start up I could hit the system recovery key and reset the computer back to its original protocol. In doing this I lost my files that were stored on the computer. Anyway of getting it back? |

Re: recovering windows xp data
Hi, welcome to TSF.
The chances of recovering the data is slim. You have to stop using the hard drive and connect it to another computer. Then start the Windows installation on the "other" computer and use a data recovery program. Before your connect your hard drive "System restore" should be disabled - otherwise it will write files on the drive. Another way would be to use a live Linux CD with utilities to move the data from the hard drive. Please post back if you want to go through that - then we can suggest some data recovery programs. |
