Exclamation Serious Help Needed

Let me start out by saying that i would prefer to not have to buy another harddrive (i'd have to bother my parents for one since i have yet to find a job (is 17)) I want to just format completely and start over but thats my problem as you will see, all i really want to know is if there is a way to do this by formatting with knppix or the like
More information available if requested

The first harddrive is a seagate model U8 ST38410A it does have windows Xp Pro installed
Whn started without windows disk inserted it saysDisk boot failure, insert system ddisk and press enter
When i insert the windows disk it says windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd-rom
Select "r" at the first screeen to start repair (cannot get to recovery console so do not suggest it and besides like i said i want to format not recover anything)

The second harddirve is a Western Digital WD800 Enhanced IDE Hard Drive Model WD800LB - 550NAD
15 Aug 2004 DCm HSBHCTJCH
Windows is not installed on this harddrive but there are some windows files on it for some reason
With the windows disk inserted it says NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl+Alt+Del to restart (does not work)

The final harddrive is a seagate model ST310014ACE
It goes to safe mod/networking/cmdpromt/normal whether the disk is inserted or not
and then it gives me a stop error
Stop 0x0000007B (0xF7AC0640, 0xC0000034 0x00000000 0x00000000

Now what i really want to know is if i can format these harddrives with knoppix, fedora, or the like and then reload windows
I've tried only one other way to wipe them and that was the boot and nuke thing by Darik
if more information about the drives or computer is needed please specify
thank you for your time ^_^

Re: Serious Help Needed

if you have done the dban set the computer to boot from cd first and do the format with the windows disk in ntfs format and install
as far as i know as i don't use linux it uses the fat system and you want windows running in ntfs
