i have a seagate U6 model ST34081A, i have the same problem, when i boot up my pc it said " IDE INSTALLATION ERROR! what should i do to fix it...i've try to check the pin for the jumper and also try to switch the ide cable and still the error still the same..pls help me guys...

How do you have the jumpers set and where on the ide cable have you attached the drive? Is the IDE ribbon 40 wire or 80 wire?

Is this a new drive? . . new system? . . has it worked before? . . are you trying to install the operating system on it or is it a slave?
