Re: Is there a solution
Set the HDD to #1 in BIOS boot order.
If you need to boot from a CD you can change it back to CD. |

Re: Is there a solution
After moving the card to a different PCI slot, there is a change in the card.
When booting, it says Press F3 to configure the card. Before, 4 changes came up. Delete, Create, Copy, and Fix. I couldn't use any. Now 5 come up. Delete, Create, copy, fix, and "select HDD for priority" I Did 5, set the HDD to 1, and nothing happens. |

Re: Is there a solution
Yes, under hard drisk boot priority there is
1. My hard drive 2. Add-on PCI Card That's the order it is set to, but I cannot change it or anytihng. And First Boot Device = Hard Drive Second = SATA CD-ROM Third = Disabled |

Re: Is there a solution
If those are the settings Windows should start (even if the CD drive is connected).
Remember to save when you exit BIOS. Try with the HDD connected to the controller card and the CD to the mobo. |

Re: Is there a solution
OK,
I think the problem here is all the switching of drives. Try this, Set the HD as master (no jumper) and connect this to the MoBo Set the CD-Rom as master and connect it to the WHITE connector of the PCI card. Check the BIOS and be sure it is set to HD 1st, Cd-Rom 2nd, enabled 3rd. This should boot to Windows. Let us know. Thanks, Bill EDIT- I agree with Eneles, I think it is a configuration problem with the card. Last edited by BCCOMP; 01-31-2008 at 05:39 PM. |

Re: Is there a solution
you have encountered why I preach "PROMISE CONTROLLER CARDS"
they install without a hitch / they are bootable so you can connect your boot drive to them return the card you have now / to newegg, hopefully and get this card! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816102007 OR buy this adapter! http://www.satacables.com/html/sata-acessories.html then you can connect your existing cd-rom drive to a sata port

Re: Is there a solution
Good luck.
Keep us updated.Just ask if you have any questions. Oh - and - before you install the adapter: Enable the SATA controller in BIOS and install the driver in Windows. Otherwise you won't be able to start Windows with the adapter on the HDD. Last edited by Deleted090308; 02-01-2008 at 10:51 AM. |
