problem with "installing devices"

first of all, i didnt know where the hell to put this...so move this topic of it doesnt belong here

i have a gateway 7322 notebook with windows xp home edition. like 4 days ago, i did "full system recovery" why? i dont know im an idiot (xP) well, when it rebooted, it came to "installing devices" and it got stuck at like 40% and i couldnt move my cursor...i waited there for like an hour, it still didnt move. i restarted, and my laptop froze. i did the recovery again, same thing happens, and after like 5 tries i stopped and did full system recovery with the recovery discs. the SAME thing happens! i cant get out of the installing devices thing! it automatically goes to that window! when i looked on google for answers, there were TONS of other people that had the same laptop as i that had the same problem. most of the stuff on google though didnt pretty much helped. maybe i shouldnt have gotten a gateway...help please?

Re: problem with "installing devices"

A "full system recovery" from where? How?

Are you talking about a special Gateway feature?

You just found out what happens if a so-called "full system recovery" fails

Re: problem with "installing devices"

I'm having exactly the same problem on the same machine. I tried entering recovery mode both from the recovery partition and with the recovery CD's with the same result. I reformatted the hard drive with the same result. I'm really at a loss here
