Re: Need Help about Seagate 10GB "ST310014ACE"
Hi,
Welcome to TSF. Is the 6GB HD jumper set as master and on the end of the ribbon cable. The 10GB HD jumper set as slave and in the middle of the ribbon cable? Did you partition and format the 10GB HD? If not go to disk management. Right click My Computer>Manage> a window will come up (Computer Management) scroll down to disk management. Another window will appear along side. Here you will see your drives. Right click on the 10GB drive and create a new partition and format. Hope this helps Thanks, Bill Last edited by BCCOMP; 01-27-2008 at 11:44 PM. |

Do I understand you correctly that you have these 2 HD on different IDE cables? These drives should be connected on the same IDE cable (Primary). The 6GB jumper set to master and at the end of the Primary IDE cable. The 10GB jumper set as slave and in the middle of the Primary IDE cable. If this is not your setup, then adjust it accordingly. Then see if you can see it in Disk management. Let me know. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Need Help about Seagate 10GB "ST310014ACE"
Hi Erick,
What is the make and model of this machine? Can you tell me what the Motherboard is? If you are running two HD then they both should be on the primary IDE cable and jumpered accordingly. Are you using an 80 pin IDE cable (It will have a black, gray and blue connectors)? Thanks, Bill |

Re: Need Help about Seagate 10GB "ST310014ACE"
Hi erick,
Another thing you could try is to remove the 6GB HD from the system. Then set the jumper to master on the 10GB HD and install it. Run the XP CD and have it partition and format the drive. Quit the installation after the format. Reset the 10GB HD jumper to slave and reinstall the 6GB HD. See if that will work. Let me know. Thanks, Bill |

Re: Need Help about Seagate 10GB "ST310014ACE"
This is the other "bill" here. there are some other things you can try. Get a Windows 9x setup disk, disconnect (physically) the 6 GB disk from the system and boot from the floppy disk. Run the FDISK command and there should be only ONE hard drive listed. If it is listed then partition the drive the way you want.
If you do not have access to a Windows 9x machine? Then go here: http://www.bootdisk.com/ There are preconfigured bootdisks for all operating systems there. Just get a blank floppy and run the downloaded file. It should make a bootable floppy disk for you. HTH Bill |

There is no security assigned or set on harddrives. Are you sure this Harddrive is good. Have you tried to partition and format? Thanks, Bill |
