HD access makes Windows freeze
I have a problem with my 300GB Seagate hard drive. Whenever I try to access anything on the drive my computer freezes for about 10 seconds. When my comp freezes my explorer.exe process jumps to 99% usage. It seems like there is a problem with the read/write times because after 10 seconds I can see the files and access them, so I know they are still there. For example, when I play a video file it will play for 5 sec, freeze, play for 5 sec, freeze, etc...
This problem has been bugging me for over a week and Seagate support sucks so I came here. I would really appreciate any help on this.

Re: HD access makes Windows freeze
Hi prestono99 and welcome to TSF, you should start off by running the diagnostic utility from Seagate. Seatools for dos, have a formatted floppy disk handy and just running the program will make your bootable disk. Then boot off the floppy drive. Mike
