invalid disk error

i have 2 hard drives win 98 operating system and i formatted drive c and it comes back saying invalid disk error . i canged the bios setting to than read drive d which brought up my windows desktop i even logged on to the internet which would not let me update anything so i than rebooted and tried to format c again after formatting it than come back as invalid disk error and now it will not let me enter anything on drive d or drive c..(on reading drive d when i told it to format drive c, i used win me disk instead of win 98 disk)..not sure what i have to do to get anything on computer for operating system or to regain my operating system...i have no backup files. all i have is win 98 disk and window me disk
