Really Slow Computer problem
Hi,
I just fixed my computer from the ntldr missing problem, which would not allow me to boot into windows, this lead me to use the recovery console and to replace ntldr and ntdetect.com from the xp pro cd, i also used the fixboot and all those other commands on the recovery console, this did infact not even solve the problem. So i used the repair option on the xp pro cd which went through the first phase of the repair which was copying all the new system files etc. but the second phase of the repair would not work because windows needs to boot to allow this to happen, and because of the ntldr problem i couldnt get to that. I camt to the conclusion that it was the cable that was connected to my hard drive that was the problem, so afetr replacing that it allowed me to boot and then it started the second phase. After that was completed windows booted and i came to a screen asking me which operating system i would like to boot from, i throught this was very strange, they both said windows xp professional, the top one took me straight into another repair option where it was as if i had done a fresh install, and the bottom option took me straight into what i had just fixed which was good, i looked in the boot.ini file and found [boot loader] timeout=30 default=signature(b71ab71a)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] signature(b71ab71a)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn so i deleted the signature(b71ab71a)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect and i also changed the default to multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS which i dont even know how it got there. This fixed the oepratign system problem, but now whenever i boot into windows, it takes ages to load and the computer goes really slow and when i go into task manager, it says that it is using alot of cpu usage when i dont even have any program loaded, it says on average 75% usage. please help, sorry that it is so long, but i thought it would be better to tell u everything that went wrong. thanks in advance, milzy my computer never went slow before this happened |
