Disabled HD in BIOS Help
Hi
My name is Elio, OK I recently bought a new computer, but the problem was that it came with wonderful Vista, so I added my old HD from the other computer... everything was working fine, the other day I got tired of automatically booting on XP and tried to change it to Vista, I tried setting the priority but that didnt work so I ended up disabling the other HD, thinking I would be able to choose later on whether to boot from it or not. Now my HD wont show ANYWHERE in the BIOS setup so I cant activate it... (note that when I'm in Vista the HD shows up in My Computer and I can access it and it says its working fine.) Any help would be greatly apprecitated. |

Re: Disabled HD in BIOS Help
Shut down, Unplug the drive, then set your bios setup menu to defaults. Then plug the drive back in and when you boot, it should find the drive fine. Then, go to the Boot menu and set the hard drive priority for what you want.

Re: Disabled HD in BIOS Help
Glad you got it going and happy to help.
I don't know why it doesn't show now, but the boot loader may be part of that issue you are talking about. I will look around and see what I might find out when I have a little time.

Re: Disabled HD in BIOS Help
So you can see the drive in Device manager.
Then you can, most likely, see it in Disk management as well. (Start > Settings > Control panel > Administrative tools > Computer management > Disk management.) If so, please follow the steps in this article: http://www.techsupportforum.com/cont...icles/149.html |
