Re: sata hard drive not recognized

Take out the DVD. Lets do one issue at a time. In your bios make sure that it is set to recognize SATA. It may be set for EIDE only. Check tour cables, primary = 0 and secondary = 1. Or the connectors may be marked Primary and Secondary. Varify any jumper settings on the hard drive. You didn't say if this is a new hard drive or one that worked before. Some Bios will not recognize HDs over 137GB and you will need to use the disk manager CD that came with the HD as a boot during initial setup. It will create a partition compatible with you bios so that you can do your OS install. Set bios boot to go to your CD first, HD second. After OS install use the HD CD again in Windows to create the larger extended partition so you can use its full capacity. If all is well, then install the DVD. Do not put the DVD on EIDE primary or '0' as it may confuse the bios.
