MY COMPUTER GONE VERY SLOW! What the hell?
What the hell is wrong with my bloody computer?
The computer was working fine until something really gone wrong. What happen was i was installing a video game, while it was installing from CD, the installation was frozen and the CD-Drive were keep making this noise. I realise the CD had alot of scratches. Once i pull the CD out, the computer was froze and i had to reboot the computer by pressing the reboot button. While the computer was loading to window, it was really slow to load. it tooked over 2mins to get into the window. When it finaly loaded, it was so lagging how i couldn't move the mouse as well. When you move the pointer, it stops while you are moving the pointer, this pissed me off. Another thing when i play a game such as counter strike, the loading was slow like a pig and the game was lagging. i done the virus scan and reg fix, but no answer. It's still laggs!! damn.. What the hell is wrong with my computer? Is the CD-drive fault? or the hard disk? Any ideas? Thanks Last edited by grahic; 01-01-2008 at 07:40 PM. |

Re: MY COMPUTER GONE VERY SLOW! What the hell?
Was the game compatible with your operating system and resources?
CD drives do sometimes fail. I had one that overheated on large installs and that caused installation failures. Try using a CD disc cleaning disc to clean the reader. It uses the same cleaner as stereo CD players. There are also utilities that test the CD Rom drive read/write performance. I hope you regularly use System Restore and set recovery points before making changes. Go into it at: Accessories/SystemTools/SystemRestore and select the second option which will display dates of retore points available. Pick one made before your problem started and restore your system to those settings. CCleaner is good as well but you said that you had already run a reg utility. CCleaner will do that and much more. I had a similar problem (running so slow it seemed backwards) and found that I had a defective power supply (the -5 was dead). Power supply testers are cheap and should be used during upgrades and even on new power supply units. |
