Installing a new internal SCSI hard drive
My apologies for posing what will seem a simple problem to many readers and one that has probably been raised before.
My existing W2K-Pro PC has on-board U320 SCSI support but the present internal U320 SCSI HD is too small and appears to be having occasional problems. I have a new internal and better quality U320 SCSI HD ready to be physically installed. My problem is how to get all of the files moved over to the new HD INTACT but preferably in different and/or larger drive partitions without losing my existing functionality and hopefully without not having to reinstall all of my applications from scratch. The existing HD is fully backed up on DDS4 tape and is attached to the same U320 SCSI support as the existing hard drive. For backups, I own and use several (including the latest) versions of NOVABack, which may have some utility for doing this HD change-out. I also own several versions of Partition Magic. Pointers to tutorials or other instructional vehicles, suggestions, or comments are sought and will be greatly appreciated. My thanks in advance. |

Re: Installing a new internal SCSI hard drive
from their faq
What Operating Systems are supported? A. With the software installed on a PC, supported file systems are Windows XP, Windows Media Center, and Windows Server 2003. However you can create a BartPE CD with our software on it and boot from any of the Windows 9x or Windows 2000 machines and back them up as well.

Re: Installing a new internal SCSI hard drive
I think I understand how to create a boot disc, but doesn't that leave the question of where the files will be stored that I want to move to the new HD? I have the files backed up on DDS4 tape at the moment and my existing HD is so full that there isn't room to put much more of anything on it - which is why the new HD is vastly larger. My apologies for being a bit dense on this entire situation.
