recover deleted files from image disk?

can a deleted file be recovered from an image or clone hard disk?

Hi and welcome to TSF.
Provided you haven't done an incremental backup since you deleted the file and that it was copied when you created the clone, then yes. Simply go to your cloned drive with Windows Explorer, find the file and copy it back to where you want it. The same would be true for an image, except that you would need to use the image program.

thanks for the repply. The file was deleted & recycle bin emptied before the clone disk was made. Is it possible to recover the deleted file with some software from the clone disk?

Not if the recycle bin was emptied I'm afraid.

but shouldn't the clone disk be the same as the original where a data recovery program can recover deleted files? sorry for dumb questions but I am no techie.

No, because the cloning procedure wouldn't copy deleted files.

Well you easily recover deleted data if you havnt over ridden the location where that file resided. I would like to share this link i hope it would be of some use
