Question Installing a PATA Hard Drive in a SATA Computer

Greetings,
My old motherboard has bit the dust, and rather than disassemble and repair, I've decided to upgrade to a brand spanking new Velocity Micro. I'd like to install my old hard drive, so here's my question. Since my old hard drive uses a parallel ATA connection (hey, top-of-the-line in 2002), how would you (or have you) added it to a modern SATA computer? Do prefer adding it to the secondary PATA cable, or using a PATA-to-SATA adapter and slaving it? And if you use the secondary, is it better to slave it to the DVD/CD/optical drive on that cable, or vice versa? Interested in comparing your experiences. Thanks.

Re: Installing a PATA Hard Drive in a SATA Computer

If you have a P-ATA connector on your mobo .. use it as MAster and your CD\DVD drive as Slave
Most adapters I have used are really slow ..

Alternatively get a PCI card for it and use it via the card .,.,..
