Issue with WD MyBook Premium External HD 500 GB
Earlier I sort of dropped by external onto my foot. Nothing seems broken or such and it still powers up fine and the computer recognizes. But I noticed it stopped recognizing some files I was using from it. However, when I loaded the external under my computer or explorer, they were still there. So I rebooted and now my external is listed as "unreadable/unrecognized." It recognize that it's connected, but it won't assign it a drive letter and it's listed as the unreadable/unrecognized under disk management. I've uninstalled the drivers and it will reinstall them when connected and it says it's ready to use, but I can't access the hard drive in any way. This happens on both my laptop with Vista and desktop with XP.

Re: Issue with WD MyBook Premium External HD 500 GB
Another, er, sort of update: Using the above program on my desktop seems to recognize the hard drive, but it lists the size of it wrong.
The more and more I look into this, I may be screwed. There's nothing invaluable on it fortunately, but I'd rather not lose it nonetheless. |
