Maxattach

I have been given a maxattach 4300 with no information and the MaxRestore DVD,s. After restoring the NAS i am unable to get to the web interface (user name and password unknown). Does anyone know the default username and password for the Maxtor Maxattach 4300.

Re: Maxattach

Off the top of my head, I believe it is "administrator" and no password.

Re: Maxattach

Hello jims120, sadly we are not able to help anyone with getting passwords, even though we know most of these requests are valid. Here is an extraction from the rules, that will help clarify:

Quote:
ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

Users may not post hacks, cracks, or give instruction how to pirate any type of software, or anything similar, in any forum of TSF. We do not condone, support or give instruction on any illegal activity pertaining to computer systems, computer hardware, computer software programs or computer related activities. Included in this group of activities are requests for help to circumvent system admin passwords or Administrator settings on networks. We do understand that the majority of requests may be legitimate, but we do not have the means to discern these from non-legitimate requests.
I will now have this thread closed, sorry we can not assist you but you may try programs, or other such things. Other forums sometimes help with this type of issue, but we can not take care of this at TSF.

More information about our rules, can be found out the TSF Rules Page.

Re: Maxattach

Seagate, who have taken over Maxtor, have an installation guide here for Maxtor Network Drives.
I suggest you follow their instructions for resetting the drive after "moving to a new network" then format the disk in your required protocol and use it. As was said earlier we cannot provide help with passwords, even if we knew what password may have been used.
The previous owner of the NAS should be able to supply you username and password if it's critical.
I did exactly the same when my Sister donated an unused NAS to me.

Re: Maxattach

gnetwerker gave me some info that the original poster might find useful

The MaxAttach was a 1U rackmount RAID NAS system with space for 4 IDE drives, running an appliance version of Windows 2000 on a stock PC m'board in a headless, web-administered enviroment. I have a long post about it in another part of this forum.

I suspect that the information in the document I linked to will help get the MaxAttach up & running for the new owner by following the procedure stated in the manual. Many similar NAS & Modem-Router units I have come across use the same technique. I don't know if it's a standard or not but worth trying
