Formatting Hard drives

Hi. I wanna know that does formatting has any negative effect on Hard drives, and whether excess formatting physically damages or slows the hard drives.
And between fast format and quick format which one is better??
and what about using DM on hdd's.

Re: Formatting Hard drives

it will not harm the drive,if you use dban and then format is the best option providing you are clearing the whole drive and not just a partition
