I'm having a lot of troubles with my Seagate hard drive.
It all started about 6 months ago. My PC would freeze for 30 seconds to 20 minutes at a time. I figured it was just time to re-install XP, so I did. not even a day into the fresh install (I had just finished installing all my drivers) and it started freezing again. So I just stopped using it for 3 months. Then I tried another install of XP. This time the install kept freezing halfway through. Thats when I started paying close attention to the install (instead of playing halo during the waits) and I noticed the F6 to install extra drivers. The big problem is, I dont have floppys and the only computer I can use with a floppy drive is my busted PC. Now, heres the weird part. Half-way through (another) XP install, my computer froze, so I restarted. First thing that up "No drives found" then 15 seconds later the XP install continues. Any help would be much obliged. Oh, and here are my specs. Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard AMD Althon 64 X2 5200+ CPU 2x1G Corsair RAM(don't remember specifics) Seagate 320G SATA HDD ATI Radeon X850 XT Crossfire Video Card |

Re: SATA problems..
Hi, welcome to TSF.
![]() Run SeaTools to check the HDD for errors. If the drive is OK - put the SATA drivers on a CD. You can install them from there. Just press F6, take the Windows disc out, put the SATA driver disc in - when the drivers have been loaded you put the Windows disc back in. |
