aiding two operating systems
Hi I recently got windows Vista and wanted to see if there is a way to hook up two hard drives with two operating systems one XP and one vista they are sata hard drives I know I can have several slaves drives but I do not know if I can have two hard drives if with two operating systems if I am switching over all my information to vista but am not ready to let go of xp so if anybody can help

Yes you can. Install Vista from XP and use VistaBootPro to create a dual-boot system.

hi thanks for your reply I am not sure what you mean by Install Vista from XP. I do not want to install two operating systems on 1 Hard Drive .I just want to aid my old hard drive with the operating system xp on it. So I can boot up 1 Hard Drive or the other

Put your installation disc in whilst XP is running and select the second hard drive when prompted.

I agree with John. That way Vista will create a boot menu instruction on the C drive ( = XP drive).
If you don't want that you should install Vista with the XP drive disconnected and the HDD boot priority in BIOS changed to the Vista drive during installation. Then you can choose OS in BIOS or by editing boot.ini in XP - or use VistaBootPro, like John said. |
