Maxtor Trouble!

Hello, I recently bought a 500 gb Maxtor hard drive, and it worked fine for a couple of months. Now it seems to malfuctioning. While using it, it sometimes just goes out of the system, like when you remove the USB/Firewire cable. The interval between these dropouts are pretty much random, since sometimes I can use it for an hour before it happens, and sometimes only a few minutes. I have tried to connect it to a different port in both my computer and the maxtor, but it didn't help very much. If anyone have an idea, how to fix it, I would be very glad :)

Hi, welcome to TSF.

Does the drive enclosure have its own power supply?
Try another USB cable.
Any problems with other USB/Firewire devices?
