another drive bites the dust? help please

Hey I've got a seagate barracuda 250GB drive that i was using as a secondary drive. one day i got an error message about hardware failure, and the drive no longer showed up in windows or the bios. Tried it in other computers, still not recognized in BIOS.

An interesting quirk is that the drive continues to spin fine, except that while the computer is starting up, it will make a beeping noise. The hard drive does, not the motherboard. You can hear it spinning, and every ten seconds the spinning seems to be interrupted by this little beep. Kind of like a little shudder.

But the really interesting part is that as soon as windows is loaded up, this beeping stops! If I leave it in the BIOS the beeping will continue indefinitely, but as soon as windows loads, the drive seems to spin fine.

I REALLY need the data off this drive. Please don't harass me about backing up, I know I should have and believe me I always will after this.

in any case, i see in the link that it's about data recovery software. this drive is not showing up in the bios. i've tried a few different software options and nothing has been able to see the drive.
