confused
I have added two each hard drives to my system, with a total of three each os. Not sure why, but for some reason after a reboot it now take forever to boot off the Compaq screen. I am using Acronis O/S to boot into my computer, but it still goes into the Windows O/S selection screen anyway. What might I have done, to create this mess? What might I do to fix it?
Donk PS, All was running great just a couple of days ago |

Re: confused
which type of hard drive configuration do you have ??????
please explain which type each hard drive is (IDE or Sata) IDE drive has the 2 inch wide flat ribbon data cable ...... sata has the 1/2 inch wide data cable which drives are connected to which motherboard ports off hand, you cant have two bootable hard drives on the same IDE connector I dont believe anyway I have always avoided such a set-up ?????? tell us about your jumpers >>>> did you set your jumpers to master and slave if these are IDE drives ?

Re: confused
Thanks, This is not what I was trying to do, but after removing all components from the back of my computer and relocating the computer to a different area, and also changing out my monitor with a different one, the damn thing works fine now. I push the start button and BLAAAAM, where off and running. Don't ask me why this may have fixed the problem, all I know is that it works fine. This has happened in the past with another computer that I have, and it to seemed to straighten it self out, and this was after trying to find a solution. I would still like to know what causes a hung start. It can be very frustrating when in a hurry. Thanks for the quick responds. Oh, about the set up. One each SATA, and Two each IDE, Cable select. I have two drives running off the IDE ribbon in cable select mode. If I remember wright, Pro is on the drive set up as SATA. I am using Acronis OS select . Now for some reason windows steps up and after I make my selection with Acronis it boots into the Windows OS select screen. If I boot into Windows XP Pro, it goes straight into the windows screen. I would assume Pro is first to be recognized as the primary OS. Hell... to be honest with you, I don't have a clue. You have most probable figured that out by now. If you would, I sure would like to know what to do in order to stay away from this problem.
Thanks, DONK ( Don K. Jones ) |
