sata not formatting
i HAVE BOUGHT A WEST DIG 500 GIG HD SATA AND INSTALLED MY SATA PCI CARD,PLUGGED IN MY SATA DRIVE. WELL PC SEE'S THE DRIVE, AND I HAVE TRIED TO FORMAT THE HD AND GIVES ME A MESSAGE THAT SAYS "WINDOWS COULD NOT COMPLETE THE FORMAT". i AM USING WINDOWS XP

Hi, welcome to TSF.
![]() Enter Windows Disk management (Right click My computer > Manage > Disk management). Use Disk management to make smaller partitions, e.g. 4 x 125 GB. When that's done > delete the partitions and create one sized 500 GB (if that's what you want). I don't know why this solution works, but sometimes it does. |
