coping to external hard drive
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I purchased an external hard drive so I can have a backup copy of my C drive. When I copy/paste the C drive it starts coping, but then and error message comes up telling me that the pagefile.sys is being used and it cannot continue. When I found where the pagefile.sys was, I went to turn it off and it said that I shouldn't because if the pagefile is less than 510 megabytes, then the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a STOP error occurs. Could someone please advise me on what I should do. I have Windows XP. Thanks, Cheeko |

Re: coping to external hard drive
For starters, don't waste your time copying the Page File. It's just a swap file (virtual ram), backing it up is entirely worthless, actually it might even cause problems if you try to restore it.
When you backup your C: Drive, are you able to select/deselect which files you want and don't want, if so, then unselect pagefile.sys. |

Re: coping to external hard drive
now
check out this web page http://www.runtime.org/peb.htm you will want to make one of these bootable disks / so when the day comes that windows wont boot you can boot from the cd-rom (barts PE disk) and then enter the drive image program, from there you simply restore from your saved image file to your "C" drive and you will be back up and running in minutes dont hesitate to ask more questions
