E-sata external and backup - or USB/firewire combo?
Hi everyone,
I have a really basic question. I want to purchase an external HD (probably 500 or 750 GB) for my new system in order to create a backup. This backup will be an image of my C drive using something like Norton Ghost or Acronis true image 11. So here goes - 1 - Should this external HD be E-sata and if so will I need a PCI card to have the data transfer via E-sata? What's the best way if I want E-sata for the transfer speed? 2 - If i choose not to get E-sata but a USB/Firewire combo instead...in the event of a crash can i boot my machine from the backup image via either firewire or USB? Any advice or opinions on the best way to go and personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks! K My system Intel® Core™ 2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB), english Operating System Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition Memory 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 4 DIMMs Video Cards 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT- DDR3 Hard Drive 500GB Serial ATA - Firewire card |
