OK, so now I am getting really stuck here.
I have a TOSHIBA PX1223EE-1G32 3.5" 320GB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE ok? There are no drivers to install it as it is supposed to be a plug and play device. It's always worked fine in the past but now I brought it to my parents I can't get windows to recognise it. Windows recognises that there is a new USB device connected and tries to install the necessary drivers to get it running, encounters a problem half way through and fails. When I go into device manager it's there listed as a USB Composite Device, but is flagged with the yellow exclamation and lists as a code 10 error - i.e. this device cannot start because there's no driver. I can't update the driver because I was never supplied with one, I can't find one to download ANYWHERE on the internet and I've run out of ideas. HELP ME SOMEONE !! I need my music. |

Re: Toshiba External Drive HELP !
Disconnect the usb drive. Reboot. Go into device manager, see if there
are any flags next to usb. One other thing does the OS have sp 2 installed? If sp2 is installed and there is a yellow flag next to usb, remove all usb entries in device manager. Then reboot and windows will reinstall usb2.0 and all should be good.

Re: Toshiba External Drive HELP !
Unfortunately I'd already tried that - no joy :(
When the external drive in question is not connected, there is nothing flagged in device manager as problematic. This PC has got SP2 installed and is fully updated. Any other ideas? hehe |
