Thumbs Up SATA hard drives

hi all, this is my first time trying to use a sata drive for drive C:\, I'm trying to install win xp on it; it copies all the files to the hard disk, but when it reboots to setup, I get a critical stop with an unmountable boot volume error; I changed sata drives but get same message, can someone please tell me what's going on here Btw, it's a western digital sata drive

Re: SATA hard drives

the inicial install goes into ram and it hands over to the hard drive on the first reboot
it sounds like you need to install a driver with f6 when it asks when you start the install

Re: SATA hard drives

yes, I tried F6, but it will only let me install from a floppy drive; I figured I'd copy the sata driver from the cd- rom to a floppy, but cannot find it. Wait, I just tried with an IDE drive and I get the same error; IDE drivers never needed a driver:(

Re: SATA hard drives

check you can see the ide drive listed correctly in the bios
if not check you are using an 80 wire ide cable and the jumpers are set correctly on the back of the drive
