My System

Evil WD HDD problem

Good day.

I recently installed new 300GB WD HDD, It is detected by motherboard, I was able to made partition and formating with no problem. My problrm is sometimes new HDD is shown on My computer and sometimes is NOT, also if it is exist, after few hours I am receiving a message from windows (winxp pro) says : "can not write on disk" or something like this. My storage details is:

Storage:
IDE Controller Intel(R) 82801FB Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2651
IDE Controller Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 266F
SCSI/RAID Controller VIA VT6410 RAID Controller
Disk Drive WDC WD800JD-00LSA0 (74 GB, IDE)
Disk Drive USB Flash Disk USB Device (996 MB, USB)
Disk Drive WDC WD3200AAJS-00RYA0 (298 GB, IDE)
Optical Drive TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182F
SMART Hard Disks Status OK

Motherboard details is:

CPU Type Intel Pentium 4 540, 3217 MHz (16 x 201)
Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 2 DDR DIMM, 2 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
Motherboard Chipset Intel Grantsdale i915P
System Memory 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award Modular (09/27/05)
Communication Port Communications Port (COM1)
Communication Port Bluetooth Communications Port (COM4)
Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1)

have you checked the jumper settings and your disk is detected by the computer as a primary drive or any other.

Hi.

I believe there is jumper settings for SATA2, anyway it is detected.
On windows management it is disk 0.

If it is new try to contact to the manufacturer of the hdd .

check the data cable to the drive is secure at the drive and the m/b
try a new data cable
