SATA II installation Problem
Hello,
I've just installed a second hard drive which is Western Digital SATA II (250gb), problem is, my bios recognises it but when I go to access (format) drive, Windows sees it as a DVD drive and asks me to insert a disc. I've changed the jumper settings on it to a transfer speed of 150 MB/s as Im not sure if my motherboard handles the 300mb/s SATA II speeds. My original hard drive I've got installed is just a standard SATA drive and is still working flawlessly. I've tried plugging it into all the spare SATA ports on my motherboard but the problem persists. Mobo...Gigabyte GA-81915P Duo Pro OS......Windows XP Pro + SP2 RAM.....1024MB DDRII Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Last edited by petefeth; 08-18-2007 at 03:58 AM. |

Re: SATA II installation Problem
Thanks for the reply, the drive didn't come with any discs, drivers, documentation etc. I've reformatted my PC anyway and both of my hard drives WERE recognised by Windows as hard drives but that created a new problem. Windows sees my new 250gb drive as a 140gb drive ???? Strange!
Any solutions? Thanks. |
