Buying a second hard drive...

Well... my current 80GB Hard Drive is running out of space so I decided to get another one, but im not sure what is compatible with my motherboard...

I have a MSI K8N Neo-4...

Could anyone please identify the type of Hard Drive I need to purchase?

Also... once I do, would it be possible to, for example, be playing games and such off of my main Hard Drive and listen to music that is on my second Hard Drive which I have yet to purchase at the EXACT same time?

I would appreciate any help, and I know I am not the smartest with hardware obviously...

Other Specs
----------------------------
Windows XP Pro
HDD: Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM
RAM: 2GB (2x1GB)
Vid Card: BFG 7950GT 512MB

you can use both sata and ide h/drives

Re: Buying a second hard drive...

You would get sound from both the game and hard drive. Most newer computers should be able to do both, even without a second hard drive.

Re: Buying a second hard drive...

Ah, ok... so I guess ill go with the "SATA 3.0GBS" version from Western Digital. Thanks so much...

Now, does anyone know of a good tutorial to install this thing that best suits my situation with the SATA and everything?

Re: Buying a second hard drive...

the install is straight forward put the drive in and plug in the data and power cables
the setup varies from m/b to m/b and you need to check your m/b manual on how to set it to run as ide and any driver that you have to load
