CD ROM not recognized with Hard Drive
I am trying to install a CDROM into an old PC, well not really that old but it's kind of obsolete... I am trying to put a CD ROM in there but it won't recognize it as long as I have the Hard Drive installed, Now I know you may be thinking it's the jumpers or position on the cables, but I have changed EVERYTHING! I have changed cables, tried using the other IDE port, tried separate cables, set cd rom to master, cable select, slave, everything... This problem has plagued me for a while now and I really want it fixed. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: CD ROM not recognized with Hard Drive
When you say not recognized, do you mean by Windows or you can't boot from it? If it won't boot from the drive, you may need to go into the BIOS and set the boot order to boot from the CD ROM first.

Re: CD ROM not recognized with Hard Drive
set the one on the end of the cable to master and the one in the middle to slave
if that does not fix set both to cable select

Re: CD ROM not recognized with Hard Drive
I have tried that, ive also put both on cable select, then it just recognizes the hard drive... This is really frustrating... I've loaded the BIOS settings to default, optimized... all that...

Re: CD ROM not recognized with Hard Drive
The power supply is a 250 watt... Would the power supply be a cause of this type of problem? I don't have a 80wire cable laying around... What's so special about those?
