(resolved)HDD Cloning?

Hello all,

Well ive finally recieved my replacement drive from seagate, however i've filled my temporary internal drive with all my stuff. Does anybody know of any decent cloning software for copying all my data to my new drive.

Also i think the temporary drive is full of bad sectors as it kept freezing and making noises when i first used it (my fault for buying a used drive from Ebay!)... i ran disk check and it found and removed loads of them.

...will this effect my new drive when cloning or the cloning process in any way?

Thanks. ;)

Of course it is very wise to check the drive condition before cloning it over.

Go to Start>Run>type: cmd hit Enter and then type: chkdsk /f /r and hit Enter. Reboot and let it run fully.

Upon restarting run a full drive defragment from Accessories>System Tools.

Then try cloning everything over to the Seagate drive as Joe linked above. Should be a breeze!

Re: HDD Cloning?

Just an update, I used that xxclone program and it worked a treat. No signs of hard drive malfunction yet which is good.

Thanks for the help!
Sam.
