My hard drives think they're dvd drives...
I installed a new graphics card today, and while I was at it decided to tidy my case a bit, tie off wires and generally improve the airflow for the hot summer ahead. This involved unplugging everything to begin with, and making sure I plugged everything back in the right place. Did a pretty good job, I'd say, except something seems to have gone wrong. When I got back into windows, my two extra drives are showing as DVD rom drives.
I have 2 SATA drives and one IDE, with one of the SATA drives as my primary (c) drive, plugged into the SATA1 socket. Now, the only thing I can think of that could've caused this mix up is that I plugged cables into the wrong sockets... But the 2nd SATA is most definitely plugged into SATA2, and the IDE drive is most definitely plugged into the IDE slot next to my DVD-drive. So, I'm a bit baffled. Anyone have any ideas? I'm being pretty optimistic and assuming this is only a superficial thing with some obvious fix, hopefully I haven't actually lost any data. |
