Re: Installing Windows XP to RAID 0 - Please Help
I am having the exact same problem. I have two 36gb WD Raptor drives, both are configured to RAID 0. Just after loading the drivers from Silicone Image (the maker of the chipset of the SATA card), windows comes up with this gem:
"Setup cannot cannot copy the file: Si3112r.inf" -now, I have tried burning all the driver files (including the Si3112r file, AND I renamed the file Si3112r to Si3112r.inf, so BOTH files were included on the CD in the root), and Windows still cannot find them. I have also tried both OEM XP & XP SP2, with no success yet. What am I missing??? Edit: I have tried skipping the files - Windows just hangs on boot then reboots. Re: Installing Windows XP to RAID 0 - Please Help
Tell us what motherboard you have and where you have these drives hooked up. Remember, some boards have Sata slots and Sata Raid slots, so that is why I am asking.

Re: Installing Windows XP to RAID 0 - Please Help
aus2001, that is why I asked about your motherboard. Some boards do have both Sata (non-raid) and Sata Raid, so wondered what your board has. Some boards only have one set that can be either and if we know what board, that gives us some clues about the directions we need to provide you with to assist. It is best always to list your specs.

If you keep getting the "Setup cannot copy the file" message, then try a different diskette. If still no cigar, or if your computer has no floppy drive, you can slipstream the SATA/RAID drivers on a new WinXP install disk. If you don't know how to do this, please ask. In all cases, make sure the BIOS settings for RAID are correctly configured for your motherboard, and that you have the correct and most current Silicon Image drivers - you'll find these in your motherboard manufacturer's website for onboard SATA/RAID controllers, and at the SiI site for their controller cards. Last but not least, just like Tumbleweed said, make sure that your connections are properly configured (i.e. the HDDs are connected to the actual slots that support RAID - this is especially true for motherboards with two onboard SATA controllers). |
