computer thinks hard drive is missing....
Hi. This is my first post here. I need some help with a virus problem I've been having lately. I am running xp home on a cisnet 3.2 GHz.
I had found several viruses etc. as of late, tried installing a program to remove a "onoe's.exe" virus, restarted and then my computer decided I no longer have a hard drive. I had other virus/malware problems at the time too. All within a few days and had had no problems for the 6 moths prior since I bought the pc. I can only get into the BIOS. Nothing loads. I get "SATA is missing" and " no operating system found". I ran chkdsk from am xp cd and it said my partition has problems. I cannot format, it says "cannot format removable drive" even though I am trying to format c:/. Nor can I re-install windows at this point as everything keeps telling me I don't have a hard drive but I'm 99% sure it's a virus and not a hardware problem. Has anyone encountered this and/or has any input into what I can do to fix the problem? I would be forever in your debt!!! lol Thanks!! |

Re: computer thinks hard drive is missing....
i have moved you to hard drives
check the cable to drive has not come loose to reinstall when it asks if you wish to load a 3rd party driver select yes and pop the floppy with the sata driver in without it it will not find the drive if pushing the cable back in gets you into windows run chkdsk /r then to check for infections follow the 5 steps http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=15968
