[font="Comic Sans MS"] Hello all...I just joined today and this is my first thread as they call it. I was wondering if you can access the internet on a second hard drive. My 80Gb went down...msg's came up like: Operating system not found or NO hard disk installed...so I pulled it and put in a 20Gb. I figured out with some help, how to put the 80Gig in as a slave and get my pic's and important doc's off of it and then formatted it...strange thing is that it still says that there is 67mb of used space on it???? Can't figure that out but I'm no pc guru
. Anywho, I want to put limewire on the 80g slave drive but obviously need the internet to do that. Is this possible? Never used this site before so I hope I can even find any help that may be posted...wish me luck and TY.

Re: Accessing internet on second hard drive
Few things to do here.
Check the condition of the hard drive (80gig) using chkdsk. Open Windows Explorer and right click the drive. Select "properties" and click on the "tools" tab. In the "error checking" box click on "check now". This will startup Ckhdsk and perform a full scan of the drive, fixing any errors it finds. Once the above has been done then you can start using the drive to store whatever you want. If you install Limewire then allow it to install to the C: drive (your 20 gig). Once installed use the options in Limewire to have it setup your shared directory on the D: drive (80 gig). For ANY programs you install it is always best to install them to the boot drive (the one with Windows on it) and then store any data they create on your second drive. To save space on your C: drive you can set the TEMP and TMP directories to somewhere on your D: drive. Do this by right clicking "my computer" and selecting "properties". Click on the "advanced" tab. Click on the "environment variables" button. In the box that opens select the first of the temp directories and click on "edit". Type in the path to the directory you want to use and click okay. Do the same for the second one. It works best if you have already created the directories you want to use on your D: drive. Okay your way out and reboot. What you have done now is told Windows to use your D: drive for all it's temporary files. The advantage is that you are using the drive that has the most space for temp files, leaving the free space on C: available for the Windows swap file. Have fun with it!

Re: Accessing internet on second hard drive
Well Kev, don't have answer yet as my copy of limewire doesn't want to install as it doesn't recognize my Java platform which is up to date. But I will let you know what happens when I get a few other things figured out as I just posted another thread with another dilemma..will be in touch...I am making LOTS OF LEMONADE these days...LOL....chow
