Looking for a good program to restore a formatted drive?

Hi.. I had a drives formatting konk out on me and after trying some of my vast knowledge.. lol.. I decided to format over it with ntfs and try to restore the data with Ontracks EasyRecovery Pro, but the program just crashes every time I try to do anything,, kinda odd.
But anyways. anyone recommend any software free or otherwise.. I'm not broke or anything just want to get some stuff of here. Oh.. this is not a primary drive, just a 60 gigger I used to use as a scratch disk for adobe but it had a bunch of my brushes I don't want to lose.. waaaaaaaaaaaaa
