Re: HDD Heat
Run for cover !!!!! that things gunna blow :)
Some how I know there is an error in there somewhere as I think it is, actually no i know it would be impossible to have a hard drive actually run at 253C, there would be globs of melted stuff everywhere. Now if it was a typo and you actually meant 53C well you could try installing a fan in the front of your case to blow some cool air across your drive and also create a bit of flow in the case, if you don't have a rear fan sucking hot air out the back that would be a good idea also. Go the biggest fans you can install, 120mm is ideal

Try SensorsView to monitor the temperatures.

Re: HDD Heat
I also show a high temperature on my Maxtor when running Sea tools diagnostic software. 254 degrees which I know could not be possible. My other drive shows 49 degrees. I downloaded a HHD temperature monitoring software (Stella SMART) and it shows only 39 degrees. What's up?
What maximum temperature would be a cause for concern? Nevermind |

Re: HDD Heat
opinions vary on temps for hard drives but a popular temp to work off is 55C, so if you get around that figure you should be looking at a front fan to blow cool air over your drives
