What is the spec of your system including drive models and PSU info ? (you will need to read that from it's sticker on the side of it inside the case).
Why did you need to format it ? how did you format it ? Have you touched\changed ANY hardware in your system just before this started ? And were there any signs of this or similar starting to show before this happened ? Sorry for so many questions but without such info we are working blind. |

Re: Bad sector or something else
Try it with only one card and see if it reboots. Also, are you certain that all the dust bunnies have been cleaned out of those fans including the CPU fan and heatsink, all case fans, any chipset fans, and last but not least, the video card fans.
You may be a tad light on power supply juice with a 580 watt Tagan (not a bad power supply, although the available juice might be a little light for this rig IMHO) and that can also cause what you are seeing. If this were my rig, I would go consider trying something like a 700 watt power supply. Do you know anyone who has a larger one you could swap in for a few minutes to try it?

Well you appear to have a reasonable spec, so nothing jumps out of me there, I was wondering about a cheap PSU but you have a decent one as far as I'm aware, try using killdisk to format the disk, it may be wise to do it overnight as it takes a few hours depending on your system, if theres a remnant of something lurking that should clear that.
As to the board I have had video slots go bad before on the board, is there another card slot you can try ? if so see if that makes a difference, if that works it would suggest the other slot may be bad, but see what happens before you bin it lol, there may be something else causing this we can't see yet. |
