Alright!!! I'm closer to victory! :pray
I ended up ordering two items to get this new HDD to work! One was the Power supply that you recommended. I feel that you were probably right on my system being under powered and it probably is now helping many other things that coul dhave been wrong with my system. So thanks for that! ![]() Also, I ordered this PCI controller card so I could use the SATAII that I paid for with my mother board which doesn't support it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816210001 I installed it into the system and that seems to be working great! I just hooked up the new HDD that I had and it is recognising it on the SATA controller card....problem is, now how do I get it to recognise it as a hard drive instead of a SCSI device? I was aware that it would recognise it as so, but forgot what the next step is to accessing it as another hard drive? Thanks so much for the upgrade tips...almost done! EDIT: Just wanted to add that this is all I'm able to find in Windows...as it's not coming up under My Computer or anything: ![]() The WD is my other drive which does come up under My Computer. Re: Hard Drives not detected when connecting new SATA Drive
don't worry about what it lists it as
windows will not see it until you go into disk management and format it
